The War of Art - Steven Pressfield

"The Paradox seems to be, as Socrates demonstrated long ago, that the truly free individual is free only to the extent of his own self-mastery."

The mind is an interesting place, isn't it?  That's where it all goes on.  Motivation, inspiration, self-doubt, worry, love, fear, you name it and its got it.  So we're locked in a sense, within the confines of our minds.  We operate inside of its capabilities.  It's limiting from that point of view.  What if the capability of our mind was infinite?  In theory we'd still be confined, yes.  But in a practical sense, if we can't catch up to and reach the 'walls' ... are they really there?  So, does it matter?  There's freedom there.  Self-Mastery to me, is a continuance of working on and improving your capabilities.  In any respect.  Free yourself from the confines of your mind by expanding it well beyond your self-set limits.  Start with knowing what and where those limitations are.  Then, adapt an understanding of those limits, that by definition, are self inflicted and self imposed.  Use the key of knowledge to unlock those mental shackles and be free.
