The 50th Law - 50 Cent & Robert Greene

"...'let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself - nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror, which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.'

What Roosevelt sketched out in his speech is the knifes' edge that separates failure from success in life."

I've come to realize that life really does boil down to a collection of moments.  Within those moments we're confronted with the opportunity to make a choice.  Left or right.  Red pill or blue pill.  Black or white or every shade of grey and nuance in between.  What we decide to do and not do, quite literally dictates how the story of our lives plays out.  It sounds pretty obvious now that I see it on the page.  Why wasn't it clear before?  Take a microscope to any aspect of your life right now.  Family, personal relationships, work, health.  In each of those dynamics, when confronted with a 'knifes edge' decision ... did you make the right one?  Did you retreat or did you advance?  There's a Dominican saying that i've heard from my family growing up: 'para atras, ni para cojer impulso'.  Which I guess can't be a blanket statement to apply in all situations because you should stop and take a step back every once in a while to re-evaluate and re-position yourself ... but at its core on a Macro-scale, the ideals of that statement couldn't be more true.  Keep pushing forward.  Don't let fear retreat you.  Reverse that and retreat from fear.  Focus your efforts toward your type of success and keep advancing.
